What it is

An emerging destination, not a strip.

Playa Mujeres is the northern end of Costa Mujeres — a planned, low-density destination built around a marina, a golf course and about 3 km of open beach. Where the Cancun Hotel Zone is a wall of towers on a sandbar, here the buildings sit back from the water and the coast stays visible.

The whole area is a private community with 24/7 security at a single controlled gate: a handful of luxury resorts, one residential condo complex — La Amada — and the vacation rentals inside it. No day-trip traffic, no vendors on the sand, no crowds.

Close enough that the airport transfer is short and the Hotel Zone is an easy evening out. Far enough that you hear the water instead of the avenue.

Why people come

Three reasons, and none of them is nightlife.

Relaxation, adventure and the natural beauty of the Caribbean coast — in a place still small enough that all three fit in one day.

Unspoiled Beaches

Wide, white and quiet. No vendors, no beach clubs stacked side by side — most mornings the sand in front of you is empty.

A Private Community

One controlled gate with security around the clock, and only residents, guests and staff inside. Families walk and cycle everywhere.

Adventure Nearby

Snorkelling, sailing to Isla Mujeres, golf, the Contoy reserve and the ruins of El Meco — all inside a short drive or boat ride.

What to do

Within the gate, and just outside it.

Playa Mujeres Golf ClubInside the gate

Playa Mujeres Golf Club

18 holes along the mangrove and the sea, open to guests staying inside the community.

The MarinaInside the gate

The Marina

Charters, fishing and catamarans leave from here — the crossing to Isla Mujeres is minutes.

Dining & Beach ClubInside the gate

Dining & Beach Club

A handful of restaurants and the beach club, so you never queue for a day pass.

Convenience StoreEveryday

Convenience Store

Groceries, coffee and essentials on site — the practical advantage of an apartment over a room.

Playa Mujeres or the Hotel Zone

Same sea, different holiday.

Both sit on the same turquoise water 20 minutes apart. What changes is density, access and quiet.
